Looks like I’m getting a bit lazy when it comes to writing longer blog posts, so the ones I do write tend to cover a much longer period of time. So, here’s what has happened during the first half of the year.
The winter season was quite short this year, and the snow melted away really early. However, the forest roads stayed frozen for quite a long time.
Here’s one of the nicest trips I made during the winter: (My videos have always English subtitles)
It pretty much sums up what winter riding is all about: great weather, absolutely stunning scenery, and yeah… a bit cold.
I also had a great one-and-a-half-week summer trip that included several Moto Adventure Days (MAD) events. I rode from home to Helsinki, then continued to Lammi where we had the MAD training days. It was a really fun and useful experience. We learned more about proper riding positions, hill climbs, and other off-road techniques.
Unfortunately, my clutch slave cylinder started leaking because the O-ring broke. That meant I had to hunt for spare parts around Finland. Luckily, I managed to get a new piston after only a two-day wait.
Once the bike was fixed, I headed to Himos, where we spent four days scouting trails and checking existing routes that we’re planning to use during the main event in August.
Here are some photos from event.

After the trip, I organized a gravel road riding event where we took it easy, enjoyed the scenery, and rode some beautiful roads. The photos below were taken near the end of the ride when we decided to finish with a slightly more challenging section.

What’s Next?
Currently, I’m preparing for the Tyrnävän Rynkytykset event, which will take place in the coming weeks. It’s one of the biggest events of the year for me. I’ve prepared a 160 km route that’s quite challenging for those brave enough to join me.
I’m also planning a two-night trip to Niekka at some point.
In August, we’ll have Moto Adventure Days again. You can read more about the event here:

In September, I hope to participate in the Gravel Poker Ride in Kouvola. If everything goes according to plan, I’ll continue the trip from there to ride the TET Estonia route.
Follow me on Instagram or Facebook if you’d like to see more frequent updates. I usually post photos and ride updates there much more often than here on the blog.
